Go to a truck driving school and take out a loan or pay for it. IF you go to a companies they will have you sing a contract to stay for year or two and they treat there driver like dogs.

The treat you better if they know you can leave at any time. There are a few down fall but over all There is nothing els i would want to do, expect win the lottery.

If you want to go to OTR there are always looking for people even new drivers, they may keep you on a team for a mouth or so be make sure you know what the deal is. Remember you are being trusted with about 100k worth or equipment and a load that can cost many thousands of dollars.

Also there are dump truck and school buses. Trucking is what you make of it.

Best of luck and happy trucking.

I thought about this years ago but I didn't like the idea of only being home for two weeks a month! There are also some other draw backs I didn't like so I'd definitely ask a truck driver about it first. I'd say you have two choices.
1. Sign up at a truck driving school
2. Get a job with Swift or one of these other companies that will train you.

Forget Wal-Mart! While it is true that they get paid well they only take the best of the best! In other words you have to have several years of experience before they will even consider you, they're not interested in noobies. How do I know this? I asked one of there drivers.

First thing to know! Do you want to be gone all the time? Eating all that crapy truck stop food? Team driving with someone you dont even know? If you are serious about this the best thing to do is try to find someone that you know well and go with them on some of the runs. One of the best paying is WAL MART if you can get on. I know from experience had my own trucks for 12 yrs. I wish you luck!

Your real name isn't Janice is it? She's been talking about this for a year now. There is only one way to get your class 1 d/l, go take the course. All of them have passed testing, just pick one.
