A friend's haveing a shower and we'd like to get something REALLY good & useful. Already got a few things that they had registered for, but would like something else. Any excellent hints?

A jumbo size pack of disposable diapers. Not something lasting that they will always remember Aunt Tillie gave them for the baby. But useful, you betcha! I sometimes like to give diapers and then something cute to go with it, like a baby toy or board book that they will have long after the diapers are gone.

So many things are really, really useful. One thing that I received that was not on my registry that I was really happy I got and didn't even think about was a basket full of items such as baby q-tips, infant tylenol, pediacare, mylicon, a small kit with nail clippers, bulb, thermometer etc, comb and brush set, various items for the diaper bag like a small wipes container, plastic baby pwder scented baggies, there was diaper cream, nice baby shampoo, soap and moisturizer. All of these items add up in cost and usually items a first time Mom doesn't think about becasue some of them she won't be using for several months. I loved all of my gifts but this basket I felt was the most thoughtful and a life saviour!

Oh i'd desire to probable call a thousand million issues, yet alot of them are greater so needs than desires! Diapers and Wipes are continually outstanding, tucks could be somewhat too own, LOL. i'd probable wait and notice what she registers for? unsure how plenty you have been eager to spend yet there are the biggest needs! possibly the carseat, a diaper bag, bottles, pacifiers, infant bath, something alongside those lines! We had a chum that gave us a splash one bath packed with a splash wellbeing care kit, mylicon, toddler tylenol, washrags, sleepers, hooded towels, a tub gown and greater! It replace into considered one of those inventive theory, and basically paying for all those little issues nonetheless helped much! better of effective fortune!

I have 2- first a Snulgli baby carrier- it calms my baby when he is screaming, it allows me to get things done around the house and walk the dog, and HE LOVES IT! Second, a vibrating chair. It is the best place to put him, it allows me to take a shower, he will nap in it, it has toys on it for him to play with. Just my opinion, but I have a 5 week old, and these two things have been lifesavers.

The best thing I got was the blanket my daughters grandmother made for her. My best friend got a picture frame that had a spot for her pregnant and the baby's ultrasound with a poem on it, I don't know where it came from sorry but I hope that helps a little.

The coolest gift I received was this bear that had a tiny tape recorder of a heart beat inside a mother's womb... my baby would sleep well while hearing that. Also, the diaper genie... love it and so practical... no odor whatsoever!

diapers for sure....i loved the fact that practically everyone that came to my baby shower bought pampers, wipes, and a lil somethin else....my baby is 3 months and i just used my last pack of pampers a week ago..they came in very handy especially due to the fact that most new mothers are on a tight budget while being on maternity leave.

a laundry basket with all the odds and ends nobody ever gets you. Nursing pads (to stuff in your bra disposable ones), shampoo, diaper rash cream, wipes, extra nipples for bottles, a bottle brush, comb, brush, thermometer, burp clothes, etc. All the stuff that nickle and dimes you to death when you need to have it on hand. Also, the extra laundry basket comes in very very very helpful too as you don't realize how much laundry one little itty bitty bunchkin can produce in the course of 24 hours.

two things: a swaddling blanket ( i don't know anyone that can swaddle like the nurses!!) and something called a 'hooter hider' for breastfeeding moms. good solution to having to breastfeed in public or even during mommy groups or when visitors come. they are made by bebe au lait and you can find them on ebay. also, something thoughtful: my friend had her shower and her baby's theme was sailboats; well her best friend got a ship steering wheel and had little wooden trinkets for all of the guests to paint and made a mobile out of it. people were decorating their individual ornaments while the mommy was opening gifts. i thought it was the best idea ever. of course you can tailor it to whatever her theme is.

My friend gave me a treasury of children's stories and a handmade "gift certificate" for the following services: laundry, babysitting, and cleaning. I appreciated the certificate the most because as a first time mother, the first few weeks were quite overwhelming and my husband and I were too sleep deprived to keep the house in order. We really appreciated that my friend helped out with the household chores so that we could focus on our baby.
