The easiest way is just to ask them, you do get some members who do wear masonic ringsProbably the most common recognised is the square & compass with the letter G in the middle, others are for higher orders which you probably won't recognise & aren't as prolofic

UPDATE 15/2 : Individual Freemasons do not advertise their membership and certainly would not communicate Masonic secrets to non-Masons including any modes of recognition.
The answer to your question is that you will only know if you ask him and he decides to tell you.

Often they have a ring on (looks like a class ring)that has the symbol for it even stickers on their cars.

they all wear the same signet ring... it has the outline of a triangle on it and the initials of the masonic temple
