on the front of my computer, i have slots to put in memory cards. the card that i have is the smallest (physical) card available, it's the micro sd transflash 2gb. it came with an adapter, the adapter fits into the mmc/sd slot on my computer. it's not recognizing it though (when i look in "my computer", it doesn't show up) the small card works in my tmobile dash but i've decided that for editing purposes, it would be easier for me to just put the card directly into the computer (i'm being very picky about how my music is displayed and i'm sure i want to do it this way...let's leave it at that)...so it's not working. i think the problem is that the driver associated with that slot is for the mmc card. i'm just wanting to know who agrees with me so i can finally give up until i get the driver. and if you do agree, where could i get that driver? please don't just guess, i know a lot about this stuff but i haven't been in a situation where i needed an adapter like that before. thank you.

first of all being a geek it bothers me that you said that micro sd is the smallest format, it is actually memory stick m2 micro, sorry im such a geek. now for your problem I think that you are right about the driver, usually it comes preinstalled if you bought the computer with the reader built in, however there are many things about this that could be going wrong, the easiest way to fix it is to just buy a usb reader for about 10 bucks at a store or about 3 bucks on amazon

the other harder way is to go to control panel>system>hardware tab>device manager
you should see a whole bunch of devices first look for anything that is checked off with a little yellow question mark over the icon, then if there is one on a device that says something like sd root hub or removeable storage hub or something like that then you will know it is a driver issue

to get the driver go to your computer manufacturers website and find where they keep all of the drivers (usually in the help and suport or downloads section of the site) then it should just be putting in your model number and looking for drivers there for your reader, you should not need drivers for the adapter because micro sd cards use the same circuitry and architecture as a regular sd card they are just smaller, so the adapter is just making the card big enough to fit in the slot, it is not changing anything about the way that your computer sees the card

another crazy problem might be that your reader is so old it does not support sizes bigger than 999 mb because of the way cards below that amount are designed

Right SD and micro SD should all work fine (providing you have the mSD adapter). However some card readers are a little fussy with SDHCs, I've had at least 2 times when the computer just failed to recognise an SDHC card, to my huge irritation.

For working with windows XP no external driver is required, but for windows 98 drivers are required.

U can use external memory card reader (13 in 1) costing around Rs. 200/- with the USB cord and driver software, easily available in the market.

It really works very well.

Regarding ur problem, just check the memory slot with any other card, if it detects the same the system is okay else there is problem with ur memory slot/driver/connection.

I use a external USB memory card reader for my Samsung Phone which has the micro sd with SD adapter and it works perfect! Costs about 10 at a local computer store.

i had to put the card into my phone first and format it. after you format it you can put it into the computer and put whatever you want on it.
