First you should define true and love.
Then you would find yourself the answer.
Go to a good Dictionary, one that defines words, one which gives concepts and in the end look for the origin of each word so you have a broader view of the all concept.

Happiness... there are two things with which I agree plainfuly, one must observe if one wants to be happy, according to L. Ron Hubbard:
1 - One must be able to experience Anything.
2 - One must cause ONLY things that others can experience easily.

Telling you what I think about the details of yur question, I believe Love is above all ADMIRATION. When you admire somebody for what he-she is or does, then you respect that person and the way to love him-her is open and pray for him-her not to change, or you will loose your love. Once you love, be respectfull, over with promiscuity, dedicate yourself to the person and show him-her the way, as 'a good example', so you asure that this love is a long-lasting one.

True Love? A myth. Happiness and contentment through another? As unlikely as David Cameron ever telling the bare truth.
