If your brother or sister revealed to you they were gay, how would react? Would you accept them, or shun them? I'd accept them- they'd still be my sibling, and their revealing such a personal thing would make me respect them even more. I dont understand the cold heartedness of a person who could cut ties with a family member just becuse they're gay.

I can't imagine it making any difference to the sibling relationship. As long as my brother/sister was happy with his/her life, I'd be happy for him/her and support him/her the same way I would a hetero sibling.

I completely agree with you. I would accept this and besides revealing such an important thing to me would mean that my sibling trusts me and thinks that I would not reveal his secret. If he or she is a gay that will make no difference because it is a matter of personal choice and we should all accept the others' personal choices.

Accept them, but be disapponited as I thought I was 'the only gay in the village'.

It's funny to read all the homophobes reactions. There are some really firey responses. Do you think Jesus would have the same response of hate and anger towards a person? It's funny if you are justifying your reaction to gays on religious grounds, when you all preach love and tolerance. Don't you think?

Hypoctritical much?

I would love them and cherish them as I would any other time.

Hopefully the day will come that "Coming out" will not be such a big deal and people stop killing themselves rather telling their families and friends.

I noticed someone said burn them at the stake. It is people like that, that will have to answer to SOMEBODY some day and let him know why they felt the need to be hateful in life and why they should go to Heaven when they sinned constantly by judging thy neighbor!

In my case it is my 19 yr old son that is gay. He only told me 5 months ago and nothing has changed between us. This is my son, my love for him is unconditional. My son will always be my son. I only want him to be happy in life. What worried me a bit was society because they can be very cruel as many people do not accept gays and I do not want my son to get hurt but apart from that I do not care what people think.

I'd accept because as you've said it's something they felt they could trust you to handle and shunign them is one of the most hurtful things one can do.
I don't understand it myself but apparently some of my extended family members have gone agead and made images of their siblings and when that image in their mind is broken they.. well they refuse to accept it. It's happened and thats how it was explained to me. I have no problem with Gay or Lez... just about everyone I know now is one or the other... most in the closet.

Hi, the only thing I do is try to help him or her _( as I respect them for who they are )_ to know the real purpose of life as true meaning and practice of life is lost somewhat this is the cause of all these confusion and problems in human relatioanships ,as world of humanity is losing understanding of life ,reason is being old enough needs to renew it`s understanding with the new teacher of life to come back to real life again , as everything needs a renew except God.

I wouldn't care at all that's them and a persons sex preference doesn't change WHO they are or lessen them as a human being.
It's the definition and labeling that causes bias and it is more hurtful when a persons PARENTS turn against them. It's sexual taste for goodness sake. Straight folks do pretty much the exact same things with their partners.

I accept the sibling the same way
as I accept every other homosexual.
I have no reason to hate the sibling or others.
There isn't a reason at all.I accept everybody.

My sister came out as a bisexual in love w/ another girl. I accepted it and still love her. My mom was a different story, but me and my brother are really cool about it. It isn't anywhere near as mind-blowing as people exaggerate it out to be.
