Im currently taking 10 units in college. Im taking Biology with the lab, Human sexuality, and Political Science.

Im happy with those classes, but then I made the mistake of signing up for Chemistry with the lab on saturdays from 9-4pm!

I really dont want to go to that class and Im 100% sure it will be very stressful. I just want to drop it while I have time, what do you guys think?

Im also not working this semester because my husband told me to just concentrate in school, but thats also hard because he's currently deployed and Im always worrying about him & thinking about him which makes it harder to concentrate in school.

My schedule so far without the chemistry classes is

Monday- Bio Lab 2:15pm-5:25pm
Bio class 5:30pm-6:55pm
Tuesday/Thursday-Human Sexuality 11am-12:25pm

Wed-Bio Class 5:30p-6:55pm

Im taking the political science class online

PLEASE ADVICE ME ON WHAT TO DO!

THANK YOU

The ultimate decision is up to you. You are the best judge of all the factors that affect you such as emotions and how much time you need to spend on particular classes weighing their level of difficulty for you and the amount of time needed.

It may help to break it down into hours available in a week. The following is an example and you can recalculate it with your own numbers. There are 7 days containing a total of 168 hours. From 168 hrs subtract 8 hrs a day for sleeping (56 hrs); current in class and lab time per week (9 hrs); 3 hrs per day to do homework and study (21 hrs); communiting to school -if travel by bus you can read/study while commuting - 1 hr each each way (8 hrs); grocery shopping, banking, miscellaneous errands (5 hrs) ...calculate the total

168 hours available
- 56 hours sleeping
- 9 hours class/lab time
- 21 hours homework/study time
- 8 hours commuting time
- 5 hours errands
------
69 hours

That means that you would have 69 hours of free waking hours to do things for you (except for mid-term and exam weeks when more studying is required).

Now calculate your hours available for enjoyment if you take the chemistry course.

69 hours available
- 7 hours class time
- 2 hours communiting
- 10 hours homework/study time (allow extra time for the degree
___ of difficulty of this course)

50 hours available per week for your enjoyment/relaxation/ socializing/exercise

When making the decision you should also keep in mind you and your partners goals. From what you said it is my understanding that you are not working in order to get through school quicker. So obviously you are foregoing financial gain for educational gain. If possible take advantage of this opportunity to get through it. School may also be a great distraction while your husband is away...it will give you something positive to focus on. Remember your education will benefit you and your husbands future.

Put your estimated numbers into the example above and plan your time honestly. If you are organized and stick to your time frames/guidelines and are disciplined, it is amazing what one can do. If your estimates of time spent is close to what I used, I believe that you could do it. Stay focused, stay positive, get through it, graduate and start receiving the rewards of your efforts.

Good luck with your decision!

I've been a full-time (12 units)(single, with a kid) Jr. College student and University student.
Drop the chem! It'll be there when you come back to it. You still have homework and a life, and you need time to do nothing (schedule it in, for your mental health) so you can think about wonderful hubby.
Breathe deep, get enough sleep, eat well, take snacks and walk some. Congratulations and good luck.

According to your schedule, you don't have anything to do on Saturday's anyway, so why not take the class?
It would help keep your mind focused on what's important(school).
