That was my original post. I did basically everything, except the hijack this thing. I am going to do that in just a second, that is, to post the saved results.

I got it to start in safe mode by changing the boot.ini to safemode. I did all the scanners. I did Zonealarm Antispy in bit mode, which took about 4 hours...thats after doing it normally, and doing all the others. It found 2 trojan things hidden. I deleted them. I restarted in normal mode. The desktop STILL doesnt come up for like...5 minutes. Its lagging bad, but only when I try to open things. I loaded mozilla in about 4 minutes this time, but theres still something terribly wrong. And as I said, I did everything that people posted, including dumping the preprep, temps, all that. Nothing worked, but I found alot of stuff. So...Now what do I do? I really, really don't want to redo windows.

Well, If I could remember the site name I would gladly let you see it. But, I cant remember what it was or even what program I was looking up. I went through about 500 pages today. I think it was a program hack site or something. I went there to get a key code for a program so I could use it fully. If it was any good I wouldn't of kept it, if it was, I wouldv'e bought a legitamate code. I hate it when you get a program that half usable, you dont get all the info. So...thats the type of site it was, a program crack or whatever site.

I decided to turn some things off in Taskmanager when it was just the desktop to see if I could determine what it was causing things to not work. I turned off somethings I havent seen before, but I thought couldve been the other programs I loaded. Nothing happened, so I turned off the SCVhost networking thing, and the countdown started. So I restarted, and the desktop loaded fast, but the programs load slow still. Then in the middle of loading bittorrent, it restarted randomly. I tried reloading, and everything on bittorrent had been deleted. Which kinda makes me mad, but not a big deal. But I got another Windows Explorer error. Gah, im so confused.

Run msconfig.exe from
start/run

On the far right-hand tab is a list of items that run as background and system tray apps as your desktop loads.
Start up item | Commmand | Location |

The path listed under the "Command" column should give you a clue to the validity of the applet.

The "Location" column shows you the path and key in the Registry.

You can temporarily disable most things in the list safely, although I would recommend you disconnect from your LAN/Internet connection (physically) before disabling
your AV defences.

Try this and see if you get any improvement in desktop loading speed.

You will need to reboot to reload the registry fully, then msconfig will load automatically...

Good luck

Follow the instructions for posting a HijackThis log at my forum:

http://malwaremedic.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi?board=Logs&action=display&num=1135140266

Let me have a look and I will advise you from there. DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING WITH HIJACKTHIS WITHOUT MY APPROVAL. Most of the entries in the scan are legitimate processes that are vital to the operation of your computer.

If you have a link to the site that infected you, can you please email it to me at:

malwaremedic AT yahoo DOT com

Sure sounds like a fun ride for my test machine. :Þ
