I think it was accidental, and so no, not a life sentence. There are far worse criminals who are found guilty of murder who don't get life anymore.

R&B star Brandy was involved in a fatal car crash in December in which one woman died.

It happened on December 30 on the 405 Freeway near Los Angeles. Brandy's car struck the vehicle of Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, who died the next day at a nearby hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Brandy (see bio, photos) was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, according to her publicist Courtney Barnes. No arrests have been made.

A statement issued by Barnes said: "(Brandy) wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased" and asks the media to "respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time."

It is my understanding that she was responsible for a car accident that led to a death. It is also my understanding that there was no alcohol involved. So, considering that there are people that as a result of driving under the influence have tragically injured and killed others and they do not go to jail or spend limited time in jail, then my answer would be no. I think she needs to be punished, but life in prison is not the answer.

What good would that do? Have her license suspended for life would make sense, but she's not a threat to society. She doesn't have a violent nature that could come up repeatedly. She chose bad judgement to drive when she was distraught and tragically, someone payed with their life. I'm sure she is suffering enough. I'm not minimizing what she did. In fact, careless southern Cali drivers are known for their rudeness and poor judgement up here in Northern Cali, but I just don't think prison for life would help anyone.

I honestly don't think she deserves to go to jail. She had no alcohol or drugs in her system at the time of the accident. It was 9am in the morning, I believe. That is why they call it an accident. If it was on purpose, they'd call it a purpose.......

Its sad that someone lost their life in that accident but I don't believe jail time is in order, maybe a fine and community service if anything.

No, unless she was negligent (talking on her cell phone and not paying attention, etc). What happened to her could happen to anyone in a split second. If she was negligent in some way, I do believe she should be punished, whether it be jail, community service, fines, etc.

No but I think people who drive carelessly (whether is drinking, talking in a cell phone, or eating at the wheel, etc) should have to pay a harsh penalty when their actions cause the death of someone else.
