i worked for UPS loading packages in a semi truck for transportation and let me tell u...DO NOT USE UPS. most electronic packages have the name of their companies printed on the side of boxes....like dell, hp, toshiba....i have seen package handlers grabing those electronic packages and literally throwing them in the trust and kicking them. so i would suggest that no matter what company u use get insurance and don't put anything more the 'fragile' on the box.

You have to have the documents. They don't care about excuses (this sort of this happened to a friend of mine, and she had the same problem as you do). Unfortunately, you will just have to reapply and wait the three months. However, I would get something from the shipping company stating that the package was destroyed, and send a copy to the agency you are dealing with (who is asking for proof for legal resident). At least it will be on the record. My friend ended up living without a driver's license for several months, until she could get the paperwork done. Her car insurance also got cancelled, since she wasn't legally allowed to drive. There was nothing she could do. They required the papers and she just had to wait for them. Sorry.

Two popular national chains are FedEx Kinko's and The UPS store. I'm not sure where you are in Chicago, but a search on Yahoo! Local will show you packing and shipping stores near you. You can follow the link below to find some options.

I work for the United Parcel Service (UPS), so I've got to say UPS.
