Hi,

I'd like to answer this question as so many people have found it amusing!!

Having in sex is a method of getting pregnant but as to whether it is the best method is questionable.

The window of opportunity is only between 3-5 days per cycle - and even then the timing has to be spot on, on average a couple on has a 20% chance of conceiving each cycle and can take almost 12 months to actually get pregnant - not great odds is it!!

Test tube method - while conception is more or less guaranteed the problems start when they put the fertilised egg back into the woman - not a high % of sucess - although IVF does work well most couples are not successful on their first attempt.

Another method is manually putting the sperm inside the vagina when ovulation occurs - sex plays no part in this - the sperm is collected separately. This method is used for people who are not generally in a man/woman relationship and can be quite successful.

So in answer to your question 'Is having sex the best way to get pregnant?' - for the average healthy man/woman couple - it probably is, but for others it may not be.

um...i would think so yea, there's only one more way and that is through artifical insemination. Where they place your sperm in her egg manualy. Also if you want to get pregnant through intercourse, then you may want to time right, a women can only get pregnant about a week each month, due to hormones produced for menstruation and reproduction. I would suggest checking out a doctor, to find out these times...the best time is tho, 14 days after the first sign of her period for that month, on that day, or 1, or 2 around it, she is ovulating, and is very fertile, this is the best time to have sex to get pregnant.

Its a big desicion tho, so be sure that both of you are completely ready, its a good thing that you asked first tho, so obviously you care enough.

good luck

peace

I think your chances actually increase when you do some fertility treatment like an IUI - no sex involved, but you do have to masturbate. So for all those people out there, no, having sex isn't the best way to get pregnant.

i'm not sure if you're bored and want a laugh, or whether you are trying to ask for advice about what elso to do to ensure a quick pregnancy or if you're trying not to have a pregnancy on your hands?!?!?!?!
sex without contraception will usually end up in pregnancy unless there are fertility problems. not smoking or drinking, being fairly fit and healthy will all help make a healthy baby.
or maybe you are interested in surrogacy? in which case i recommend its done as clinically as possible, no sex between the sperm donor and the egg donor as that will lead to emotional attachments and a whole heap of problems on top of the problems surrogacy can bring anyway!
also dont bring a baby into world unless both of you have own place to live and one of you working at least and you are over 18 or preferably over 25 as still so much growing up and changing of character when young!
whatever you meant, good luck!!!

Well, I'm assuming you mean as opposed to invtro? I think that having sex speaks for itself as the human race survivied long before invetro came along. However, if you are struggling with getting pregnant, thank goodness for medical advancements- as you have other options today. :)

nope. there are multiple ways to get pregnant if one of the party is unable to conceive. there is in-vitro fertilization, surrogation and other new technology that proven in already. need to get check both parties to ensure higher percentage rate of getting pregnant and completing it without issue. sometimes, they ask to do something during ovulation period, checking sperm counts, additional vitamins, watch food to consume, prescribe medication to improve fertility.
