Creative writing? No, not unless you're known. Technical or commercial writing, yes. Journalism, barely.

I hate to say this, but all those famous writers out there, usually had a second job starting out. Most writers fail to publish their material, and most books don't make a lot of profit.

Once you've been established as a writer, that's when you can usually be a full-time writer.

Depends on what you write. if you're taking novels, no unless you're a well established author or have a contract with companies. Many authors manke their money writing Mills and Boons because of the high turnover. You usally have to write 6-10 books a year for them though.

unless you can write a lot quickly or sell a something at a high price and get a contract. probably not. maybe a single person but not a family man.
