Perhaps I didn't explain my situation clear enough, My wireless connection was working fine on Monday. Where I live they are installing new lines and it just so happened at the same time my wireless signal wasn't a steady stream. It also just so happened I was due for an updated firewall at the same time. I went through my entire system and checked it for a virus or worm. After a week of a broken link I am switching to the new line, it may very well be my Internet explorer and Google task bar. I guess I was just wondering if this was a common problem. My wireless system always had a few lapses in it from time to time. My DSL was over priced and something better came along. My computer isn't even a year old and I had an updated firewall and anti-virus.

You should connect to your router using an ethernet cable. If your connection drops, then check the lights on your modem. If they are all on, then the problem is with the router or your wireless adapter. To determine if its software causing the issue, boot your computer up in safe mode with networking (taping F8 during boot up). This will cause windows to use only essential elements needed to operate (use only connected via ethernet cable). While connected as wireless go to command prompt (Start>Run>type"command">type "ping www.yahoo.com" and see if any packets gets dropped. This is a good indication to see if you are connecting at all pass the router.

What do you mean by "lapses"? You sure the problem isn't with the DSL line?
