Intellectuals are RARELY dumb, so it is a bit redundant. However, if you are looking for intelligent conversation you might try researching MENSA.
MENSA is a high IQ group that claims to only accept the top 2 percent of the population, worldwide.
Other than that, it is a hit and miss proposition because some people that consider themselves to be intellictuals barely have IQs of 90. If you watch responses and count spelling errors, (there is a spell check built in), it will give you a good idea that what I am saying is true. Then check the grammar and see how many people use the correct to, too or two or how many people can accept that except means, other than. That is your second clue. See if they can discuss Milton or Rousseau. None of these are fail-safes, but they will give you an idea.
My IQ tests as high as 140, on a good day. I don't think I qualify for MENSA, but I know to add two plus two and spell correctly too. Except for typing errors, I am not too bad on my spelling or grammar. I love to quote Milton, "Paradise Lost". I have read Rousseau and see modern examples of his principles in US Government as well as Machiavelli's principles in central and South America. I like classical music but would be hard pressed to name more than three titles. I mention this as an example of hit and miss, because I do NOT consider myself to be an intellectual. I just want you to think about your question and my answer to help you better evaluate what or who you are looking for. I hope it helps.

sadly enough being smart or intellectual doesn't have anything to do with having a personality or having an original idea as you can see by the comments above. i also find no reason for talking to such people (assuming I'm of that caliber) because they either think/believe what you think or don't and you won't convince them otherwise...
unless you're planning on starting an evil genius club, then we'll get all those mensa people to give us money so we can tell them how smart they are, well hand out gold stars too.

First of all, smart and intellectual are the same thing right? Do you want someone that actually is an intellectual? Or do you want someone that thinks he's smart? Or do you want someone that everyone believes is smart? Most often the people that are the smartest, are the people that other people don't think of as smart, and don't flaunt their intellect.
