i can't speak for law and order, but csi and house are dramatized for tv. stuff like what happens on those shows almost never happens in those real professions. also, diagnosing diseases and solving crimes takes time, it doesn't happen in one day. they always show one character doing the job of what would take 5 different people (i.e. a csi, a pathologist, a blood spatter specialist, toxicologist, ballistic engineer).
it's pretty fake, and half the time, the technology they use hasn't even been developed yet!

Dunno much about law and order, but the other two shows are really distorted. They may be taken from real life situations and their outcome predetermined, so its all a matter of fitting it in one one-hour show. So high tech technical goodies and multi-talented persons are the name of the game. Someone that can do everything at the touch of a button. The cast of small so the people are REALLY intelligent and are able to know exactly what compounds make up everything, or they just happen to read about it the previous week (yeah sure). In real life this aint that easy, DNA testing is not as easy, and fingerprints aint easy as scan and AVIS. Facial Reconstruction on the PC is something the Real CSI's only dream of and the machinery they use may only be a concept or cost billions of dollars. So yeah, go figure the real life of a CSI isnt as simple.
On House, all those tests in a matter of hours! Oh please, if the hospitals were so equipped do you really think we would be sitting around and waiting days on end for results if the technology was so spectacular? Guess not, so you should think twice before believing it!

i don't know how accurate they are, i do know that the CSI people aren't the ones that really question the witness and crooks, that's the detectives job. and if House was accurate, i think i would never want to go to that hospital, or any other, they just about kill every patient before they figure out what is wrong with them. (my mom claims that all ERs are like that, that is why she won't ever go. personally i think she is a bit paranoid but not a lot.)

Well... CSI is fairly accurate in the sense of how some of the evidence is processed and such. There was an episode where they poked fun at themselves... one CSI explains to another why he doesn't like crime shows... because they put about 6 hours of work into a 30 second montage with a subtle rock anthem playing in the back round. It was pretty funny to see the show poke fun at itself like that... and it just does to show not to take everything so seriously. The show is for entertainment... but there are times where you could actualy learn a thing or two.

I know CSI is pretty accurate. They have a real life CSI as a consultant for the show

Concerning CSI. The DA told a jury here that in Ottawa county it is not like it is on CSI. One DNA test could cost $400. Investigation in real life just could not approach that on TV.

It's all fake, I really don't see how people can watch those shows. Try learning how to write a screenplay and you'll see exactly what I mean. So many obvious inconsistencies in those shows to me they're unwatchable.
