I am an Algebra 2 teacher, (there are also 2 other algebra teachers)

Every year kids transfer in my class from another teacher and I sometimes receive parent phone calls that they want their child in my class.

The other two Algebra 2 classes have around 25 students, and my class has 46. My class is getting overfilled. Is there a "good" reason why kids like to switch in my class?

If people want to be in your class, that's a good thing. You're a great teacher then. But you should talk to your board of adminitration or something.
Best of Luck!

It sounds like your counselors or administration are agreeing too easily to parent demands. This is not at all fair to you and could be dangerous in your classroom. If you're in a position to do so, issue an ultimatum. Don't put up with it, and talk to counselors and principals every day until you have the same number of students as the other teachers. There is no reason that your class loads shouldn't be equal, and there is no reason for you to have almost twice as many students as the other classes. Maybe they like you better, but so what?

Hi!
I feel the reason they like to transfer into your class is because, you are a good teacher and you teacher at their level that they can understand. Maybe... the parents do request for you to be the kids teacher. They like you ....i guess
The only way you can maybe reduce the no. is to go to your administrator in the building and talk to him/her. But believe me, this happens everywhere.

well, it looks like you're a better teacher then the other two. but having and overfilled class is difficult. you should tell the kids that there is no more space in your class, and be firm about it. the parents always want their way, it won't hurt them if you disagree with them for once. just tell them that you don't have any more room.

Where are you? There should be a limit in place regarding how many students are allowed to be enrolled in a class. Schools that are breaking the maximum class size rule are in danger of losing funding.

May be you are more lenient than the other teacher both in teaching and marking the papers. They may think that it is easier to pass or get high marks in your class. Be more firm.

Talk to your Principal or head teacher or concerned people who could help you out.

Why is your school allowing that to happen? Why are you asking us this - you should be talking to the administrators at your school.

Good Luck!!!
