The whole dust-up is over the hiring of a couple of individuals that BLOG for John Edwards. Apparently, BEFORE they worked for him, they said things on PERSONAL blogs that were offensive to the Roman Catholic faith.
Some right-wingnutty folks went and dug up these old blogs written by these equally left-wingnutty folks to "prove" that John Edwards is scum. He issued an apology but didn't fire them, therefore, proving to the nuttier nutters that he "agrees" with what the blogges say--notwithstanding the fact that failure to fire someone does not necessarily condone the action.
First point: John Edwards didn't say it.
Second point: Most bloggers tend to be a bit winger-ish...including the little nutballs that went out trying to dig up e-dirt.
Third point: Is anyone else a little freaked out that people are getting this insanely partisan before there has even been a primary?????
Fourth point: I really don't care about John Edwards and wouldn't vote for him--not my preferred candidate.
Fifth point: Anti-Catholic bloggers and smarmy Democrats aren't to blame for the state of the nation. Smarmy politicians on both sides, a two party system that favors the guys with the most cash and the masses who get all caught up in petty garbage instead of real issues (just like they want you to, by the way) are the REAL problem.

Well,Fundies of any stripe,Catholic or Protestant, fit that bill. The most intolerant people I've ever known call themselves Christians. Also,American values are not Christian values. You need to read some real history, not the stuff Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell make up for you. Most of the Founding Fathers were Deists, not Christians, and deeply distrusted organized religion. In fact,Thomas Jefferson said his one regret about the American Revolution was that we didn't hang the priests
Also, most of us who realize that adults with imaginary friends are not cute, call your boy Jeebus..

John Edwards- "scum"?! He's about as "white bread" as a politician gets in this country. Obviously you're not happy living here... Have you considerd moving away? There's LOTS of opennings for people like you in Mexico- I hear. It's not too late!

No, because even if he DID say it (which I highly doubt) there are other religions besides Catholics.
Perfect example of the intolerant right making a mountain out of a mole hill, all the while being hypocrites of the highest order.
If this is true, please cite your source, but I bet you can't do it, can you?

I agree with you. I hadn't heard that the Breck Girl had said those things but I think he should drop out. I don't know how he gets elected in NC.

I honestly doubt that John Edwards ever said what you claim.
That's not even good swiftboating, Nell.
BTW, I am Catholic and I respect Edwards.
