Do yourself a favor and find another way to get online to chat. There could be a few ways around the firewall, but if you actively try to breach the security they have set, you could be banned from internet access, or kicked out of school (for suspected hacking maybe?). Check the paperwork you signed to get allowed online access, I'm sure it bans 'unauthorized access' attempts.
Most likely, the firewall you're referring to isn't the one on your computer, but on the school's network. Also, they are likely already blocking websites that offer proxy services and anonymous redirect sites (they're cool, look it up).
They aren't trying to be mean, but trying to protect the network and their computers from attack. Also they are probably trying to avoid having student play more than they work.
Don't try to beat the system at their own game - just take the game elsewhere, where it's OK to do what you want online.

The easiest way to do that would be request the authorities in charge to unblock the websites that you mentioned. If they do not agree to do so, then you'll have to use a proxy server to get through the firewall.
Just search for "Free Proxy" on Google and you'll get tons of results. You may have to use trial and error to find the one that works for you... but one of then is definitely bound to work!

In a normal college setup you cannot do that, because they would not have blocked individual machines from access, rather they would have blocked it at the server to which students will not have access. Maybe you can try some external proxies like www.anonymouse.org to re-route your packets through another server. But if they have blocked the addresses of those proxy servers too, man you are helpless!!!

No - if i block someone it is for a reason... its also the reason i no longer accept emails. I'd get emails from weird "guys" and from people who weren't happy that my opinion differed from theirs and felt the need to try and force it upon me. The only reason you would ever realise that blocking someone was the wrong thing to do, is if you did it for a stupid reason in the first place.
