It happens to some. I believe there are medications now available that can reduce this. Also, I believe "the pill" can help regulate periods. Although it may cause you to gain some weight, especially if you're not really active.
You really should ask a doctor or a pharmacist for the most accurate information. There are also medical journals online that can help you as well. -L

No, this is not normal. A heavy period is normal. A period that lasts a month is not. A normal period should last between 3 and 10 days, NOT 30. Have you ever consulted an OB-GYN about this? Do so NOW!

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you and how long have you been experiencing this?
Because some women have the "normal" menstrual discharge, while others have a late menstrual period; others do not feel the abdominal cramps while others experience unbearable pain. The cramping that lasts long could be normal for your physiology..although I am not sure whether your discharge of blood is continuous or intermittent.

Are you on any form of birth control such at the Depo shot or the patch. This is a common side effect of the Depo shot, I had my period for 3 months due to this, I ended up going to the hospital and had to take iron pills because I became amenic. I would talk with a Gyno asap. Also if you are not on any birth control it could also help stop this problem.

Go to the doctor. If you cannot afford this go to the planned parenthood in your area and they will help you at reduced cost or for free.
None of what you describe is normal.

Precaution is better than prevention. Please see your doctor immediately. You will have peace of mind and you would know right away what is wrong with you. You are still very young. You save lots of anxiety by seeing your doctor now. He would know what is best for you.
