You both go to mosques and worship Allah, Mohammed is your prophet, you answer the call to prayers several times a day and prostrate yourselves toward Mecca, you live by the Quran, and you require women to cover themselves in public. So why in the name of God are you killing one another???

I don't why they fight today, but I know how it started. The Sunni's believed the leadership of Islam should be elected by majority vote. They elected Abu Bakir as their leader or Kalif after the death of the Prophet. The Shia belived the leader or Imam should be blood relatives of the Prophet, and they decided Ali, a cousin and son in law of the Prophet should be the leader or Imam. For a brieft period, Ali was elected Kalif by the Sunnis and was leader of both groups at the same time. After Ali's death, his son Hasan was considered Imam by the Shia but was not accepted by the Sunni, he died under mysterious circumstances. Ali's second son Husayn was next in line to be Imam for the Shia. He was killed in a historical battle against a regimen of Sunnis led by the new Kalif, Muawia. The death of Imam Husayn was a pivotal point in the split between the two groups. Ritual mourning for Husayn is an important part of Shia worship. The Sunni believed Husayn was an incompetent leader, and the Shia believed the Sunnis commited an evil act in killing a grandson of the Prophet.

Well in our history lessons at school we studied a famous policy tactic used by the brits “Divide and Rule".

Now it’s not the brits only others are also using the same policy and playing us.

If we stop fighting do you think more than 2 billions faithful will sit still without being represented in any major UN decision, being dragged in mud without a voice.

Actually it’s not the fight for power amongst us SUNIS and SHIAS rather it's the fight to fill up the pockets of weapon factories in the west and give those governments power.

Can you believe a democracy in which almost one third of the population has no significant representation.

Look at the UN security council (the veto memebers) you will find that democracy and this war is to protect it and keep it as it is.

Leng:
I totaly agree with you but there are others that play the leaders. Leaders that forget that they have to answer to thier lord and no matter how much powerfull they are they just take those few meters of white cloth to the grave. the only other companion is their deeds. They are played so well that they forget all that.

I am sorry to say that even though your name sounds like a muslim you are nowhere close to understanding it.
Islam in no way is what you have said. Islam was the religion that opened the way for logical and statistaical analysis, research and scieces. look at the history of sciences. there is a whole period called the "Muslim period of science" and believe it or not most of the current scientific achievments are based on those. From Aljabra to Human body, Astronomy to Medicine all were founded and/or developed in that period.

Watch "Islam the kingdom of faith 1 and 2" its a documentery movie it might open your eyes somewhat.

They are stil fighting for Supremacy !

The Great Pretender (Mo.) was born in 570AD or 571AD and died in 632AD.
Mo left no instructions as to which son or whoever should lead the cult after his death.
The Tikrit moon worshipers have been fighting and killing each other over the leadership ever since.
That is 1,375 (?) years....so much for the religion of PEACE !

Shia and Sunni both want to lead the pack.

Politics. For power, to rule, to have the ultimate say. Don't you agree that this is still hapenning in modern world, whoever it is who wish to run for election, they will either directly/indirectly use religion/culture to mislead the poor people/believers to kill the opponent. Commoners are just objects, mislead by their so-called leaders who are using them (the believers) to their (the leaders) own advantages. Sad.
