Since it is commonly agreed by the scientific community that it is 90% likely that humans cause greenhouse gases, wouldn't we be responsible for our own pending holocaust?

The two questions are not really the same. It's one thing to deny something that has already happened and it is quite another to not believe something that may or may not be happening now and is expected to happen in the future. Some people simply don't think that human activities are all that important. The "scientific community" is not above being hood-winked by some influential people, and certainly shouldn't be given the license to "treat" others that don't believe as they do.

Secondly, "holocaust" is a loaded word. The Jewish "holocaust", was "the deliberate targeting of a group of people for extermination as a state policy". I don't consider global warming to be in that category.

Humans cause greenhouse gasses, but it's not necessarily enough to cause significant amounts of global warming. Earth's climage is constantly changing, there was one a time in prehistory (during the Eocene era especially) when the poles were as warm as equatorial temperatures today. Denying that there are climate changes may be idiotic, but it's not on the same moral level as denying the murder of 6 million ethnic Jews, along with about 10 million others gassed or starved in the Nazi death camps.

Since the IPCC has in its latest report backed off most of its doomsday predictions (e.g. sea level rise is now 17 inches vs. 3 ft over the next 100 years), are they now "holocaust deniers?" Or is only the latest report the one which carries the certitude of those newsreel pictures of walking skeletons, the mass graves, the ashes in the ovens that are still in Poland and Germany, the jews with numbers tattooed on their arms, the families which no longer exist? Denying something which has already happened is foolishness, as is equating denial of global warming (brought to you by the same groups who 30 years ago insisted the world was going to freeze) to denial of the defining crime of the 20th century.

I for one do belive in global warming to a certain extent, but I also believe that a lot of these so called "enviromentalistic orgs" have thier own agenda as well, and people are putting too much trust into these groups without any follow up for what they are really doing and why. It's easy to march a few chimps around with some polar bears but then what? There needs to be a close eye on these groups, for all we know they are destractions to the cause, and probably funded by the oil companies themselves.

No, and this argument is far from over. I am sure that mankind is repsonsible for global warming in large part, but how can we make adjustments to our culture without slowing it down? I.e.; Are we going to make everyone take mass transit form now on and get rid of their cars? Will we take the approach of Germany (was there last summer and man........they are one GREEN culture!!!) and make the environment virtually the No. 1 issue in our lives? I hope something drastic is done, but I am not very hopeful considering what we have for representation in DC.

Exxon-Mobil has punked the GW deniers by finally facing up to facts in the past 2 weeks.

Exxon-Mobil public announcement: Because the risks to society and ecosystems could prove to be significant, it is prudent now to develop and implement strategies that address the risks, keeping in mind the central importance of energy to the economies of the world. This includes putting policies in place that start us on a path to reduce emissions, while understanding the context of managing carbon emissions among other important world priorities, such as economic development, poverty eradication and public health.

The people in Government who deny Global warming should be treated as greedy, polluting Corporation supporters. People who deny it, are, in my experience, sheep who reiterate the things Rush says, so they really do not matter. It is the filth spewing Corporations and their Political puppets whom need to be dealt with.

Those whose agenda is to deny science do so not only at their own peril, but unfortunately they are successful at hobbling others, especially innocent children who are being denied a real education because of this fear based view. They are in the minority and that will increase as time goes on. Sadly they don't realize that if they deny science themselves, and for their children as well, they are only making certain that whole families will be ill equipped to find work in the new global science and math based world. It will be a dark day for them when even their children will not be able to get a job cleaning bathrooms for the Chinese, as they will fail the math and science requirements in the job application process.

Global warming? Yeah, right. Next you are going to tell me the earth isn't flat. Yeah. The earth isn't the center of the universe. I believe that one. Dinosaurs are more than 2000 years old. Good one. Can you believe there are idiots out there that actually believe this propaganda. I gotta go to church for the 5th time today! LOL
