There are way too many to list, but I just found a boxed set
of Thin Man movies at Costco. They are mysteries based
on a story by Dashiell Hammet, the guy who wrote The
Maltese Falcon (also a great movie, anything with Bogart
usually is, The African Queen, The Petrified Forest, etc.)
Anyway, these films are unique in that the dialogue and
actors are perfect, William Powell and Myrna Loy star
as Nick and Nora Charles, a couple who solve mysteries
with a martini in one hand and a lot of quick banter. Nowadays
they would be labelled "un pc" especially for the drinking.
But they are a lot of fun and there are a lot of stars in their
younger years (Cesar Romero, James Stewart)
I love the old Errol Flynn movies, Captain Blood (he
outshines Orlando as a pirate) and Robin Hood (great legs
in tights) The Scarlet Pimpernell with Leslie Howard is
another great pick.
Anything with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn: like
The Holiday, Bringing up Baby or the Philidelphia Story.
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers!!!!!
As you can see, I love old movies, my grandmother got me
hooked as a kid and we are passing that on, my 7 yr old
nephew is always borrowing my Captain Blood, Robin Hood
discs.
Gosh, didn't even get ot It Happened One Night with Clark
Gable .....

Old movies are pretty much all I ever watch. I personally like any movie with Dorothy Lamour, Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Betty Grable, Jane Russell, Bng Crosby or Harry Belafonte. And check out the Fred & Ginger Flicks, like Swing Time, Top Hat, and The Gay Divorcee.

Not really. I think acting, dialogue and directing improved a lot over time. But one oldie I like (speaking of the Marx brothers) is the comedic genius of Groucho Marx. Pure, unadulterated comedy genius. Better than 99% of today's comedians. Truly ahead of his time.

It seems you like the comedies. Try "Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House" starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. Another good one would be "Blithe Spirit" with Rex Harrison. If you can handle foreign films Ingmar Bergman films "The Plague" or "The Virgin Spring" are always an excellent choices. Roman Polanski films are also excellent choices.

My recommendation would definitely be Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock, it's an absolutely amazing movie, I love it. And if you like Alfred Hitchcock films, then you will love this one. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it, and I love it more every time!

I do. I've seen "Psycho" about 50 times. the b+w just adds to the the total ambience of the film. If it's on tonight, and I can find it, I'll watch it again. The remake was lame.
