i was caught driving with a suspended licence, the reason was just, i had to go and get a friend who was being brutally bashed, i was given a court attendence notice and i have been told i will get heavily fined and my licence suspended longer. Is there anything i can do to change that or am i to be punished for helping someone. I agree that i should be punished because i have brocken the law but is it possible to have a lightened fine or such because of the reason i was doing it. I have no idea what to prepare for the court attendence how do i go about it and how much will it cost?

driving without liscense is punishable by law in every state whatever might be your reason of doing so, even for a good cause. you better not reasoned out with case like this, or else you'll make the judge just get irritated and get you and worse deal, because with the kind of reason you have he will think you're lying and making excuses.

I'd speak to a lawyer. There probably are a few that specialize in traffic violations and know the ins and out of the local courts. Each county is unique.

As for the event, ask your self honestly that you were the only person who could have accomplished what you wanted to have done. How about the police? If you weren't there, how did you know things were as bad as you thought? Doesn't 911 work where you are? Some people think that they are the ultimate rescuer or protector, etc. It's very nice to be that concerned about your friend, but that doesn't justify an illegal act.

It happened to me before but I didn't get called to court...

So, to be honest, I don't know. I don't even know why you're being taken to court.

I'd suggest you prepare your defend statement, get that friend of yours to go with you just in case you need his statement.
