my friend in frankfurt germany called me and i have a 12 digit number starting with 496. i tried simply redialing it on my cell phone but it says the number or code is incorrect. i know in the states you have to add 1 and then the area code but what do you have to do for germany numbers?

Yes, they are nuts. Blind to the fact. Every Country around the world has been looking at America with wonderment. It went back as far as President Bush's first term and even further back. Other Countries have snubbed us and it is not just with Obama . You can't be that blind or are you ? Show some Respect then. You sure don't have any for our New President Obama .After graduating 20 years ago, you need to have Respect.

from my understanding they tend to go to these places and use the phones there and they pay sometimes with calling cards so you may not have her direct number and if you are calling to another country long distance wont work you need nationwide calling or something like that

49 is indeed the right entrance number for germany,and 6 instead of 06 is fine.
but you need to get out of the states first,in most countries is 00496.............

or dial 011 - telephone number.. u need 011 to dial out of US to any country.. then u add the country code w/o the initial zero.

maybe ur fren s using a public phone, or international card. the number that displays on your cellular fon might not accepting incoming calls
