America can be hard depends on the situation that you are in, not everyone gets what they want, many have nothing, some Americans do not even have a place to sleep with there children, nor how they are going to support there children. The real America is much harder than you think when you want to make something out of yourself.

Double L...my family has always been dirt poor too (I'm in Canada), and you can always go to the food bank. There are charities giving away food, clothing and shelter on most every street corner. You can't do that in Ethiopia. Not to mention, people in America have more opportunities than people in Ethiopia. I could go on and on here, but basically what I am saying is, don't be ignorant. Things ARE easier in a developed nation.
In answer to the question, the USA is not the only country to face these problems. That having been said, they have very well proven that being a superpower can often make your head swell. Some of them honestly do think they are better than everyone else. This could have something to do with the fact that their government acts as though they control the world. America's false sense of pride has truly gotten out of hand, and not just in recent years.
I laughed the other day when I read a question posted on here by an American, which asked, "When did our country become a bunch of whiny babies?", or something to that effect.
Just for reference, I am speaking of America as a country, and a few select persons...I am not speaking of every American. Though I would think that much would be obvious.
Also, I agree with you. Things do seem sweeter when you work hard for them.

LOL! You actually envy the 3rd world?
You don't even know what you are talking about. The challenges they face include putting their hungry children to bed and having them wake up to no school to go to in the morning.
100% of them would trade places with an ungrateful pup such as yourself.
If you are not challenged, it's because you are setting your goals too low.
Go get your PHD in green energy and then launch your own start up to save the world. Get your MD and be the one who repairs spinal cord injury. Start your own record label. Be the one to organize Habit for Humanity in your area. Feed the hungry and clothe the poor, etc, etc, etc. Be the next Jay-Z or Madonna, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Jonas Salk, etc. Go see the Will Smith movie "Happyness".
In other words, do something other than complain.

I hope I understand your question.
Life is tough and most everyone has to work at it. No matter where they live.
You can get what you want so very easy until you max out your credit cards.
Or . . . . . .just maybe you are born with a silver spoon in your mouth, that daddy and mommy feeds your need.
Or . . . . . . Luck is on your side. Then you can step in every cow pie and come out smelling like a rose every time.
Do you know what it's like to wonder where your next meal is coming from?
Sounds like life has came at you way, way to easy.
Always remember the book is never written till your dead.
Sh_t happens to the best of us and you never know when someones going to sling it at you.
Maybe we need to give our all to those who struggle through life.
I do agree that people are too materialistic.
Too bad opportunity can't be dealt out like a deck of cards.

In my understanding, boring is undertaken for a variety of reasons, two of which would be the location of underground water sources, and geological survey.
America and Ethiopia are only two, of many countries that use boring, or rock drilling for the above mentioned purposes.
For more fascinating information on the wonderful world of Geology, try a keyword search using 'Geology'.
Thank you for your time.

I don't believe that America is boring at all. There is incredible diversity here, endless challenges and opportunities.
If you think America is so boring why not go back to Ethiopia and challenge yourself? After all we wouldn't want to bore you while you are here in America.

I think travel in America is quite fantastic. There are so many things to see. But, daily life in America is boring. Most people do the same stuff....(I'm generalizing)...starbucks, talk on the cell phone, run place to place, shop at Albertson's or Safeway, hit the mall, fill up the car, starbucks run again, go home and watch tv.
Yuck.

One must not compare where they want to live with where they once lived and do not wish to live anymore! You make your life here the way you want it to be. That is the Challenge for you here. So much to do and so much you can do! Find what you want and go for it!

So the idea of FUN for you is a country where almost everyone lives below the poverty line; where the chances of success are slim to none; where food, water, medicine, and shelter are scarce; where the life expectancy age is 50 for the general population? You're scary... :0

You know America its not a country, America its a continent North, Central, and south. From Alaska to Patagonia, I think really different cultures, poverty, richness, different people, races. Just a whole continent. Why you people insist calling the u.s. America? its just funny.
