hey guys, im having issues with my Liteon dvd-rw drive.. it used to be SUPER fast when i first got it last year in june. it was at dma mode 5 and i just checked today and its now at dma mode 2.. its really slow. it takes about 15-20 seconds to detect a cd and it rips painfully slow and burns really slow.. dvds burn ok about 10 minutes to rip dvds. right now im ripping a cd at 1.6x realtime according to win amp..
is there a way to make it dma mode 5 again?

Look at these pages:

CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives can revert to using PIO mode, despite being set to use “DMA if Available.” Here’s how to make Windows XP redetect the DMA capabilities of the drives.

don't you mean dma channel? and if it is channel it shouldn't make a differnce unless you have a screwed up DMA controller or a screwed up operating system controlling that DMA controller.
