First of all there is no Six Flags in San Francisco. There is in Vallejo, California and in Concord, California. If you mean the San Francisco Bay Area yes there are. It is worth it. Six Flags Vallejo offers rides and animals. Six Flags Concord offers a Water Park.

You can do Six Flags Discovery Kingdom as a daytrip from the city. I don't think you'll need more than one day at the park.

And even if you stay in San Francisco, getting to Six Flags is easy. You don't even have to drive. There are ferry departures from the Ferry Building and Pier 41. You just transfer to bus #9 when you get to the dock in Vallejo. If you bought roundtrip ferry tickets ($19.25), the bus transfer is FREE.

If you buy your Six Flags tickets online ($39.95), you save about $10.00 off the regular price. Sometimes they also announce 2-for-1 deals with soda cans and what not.

Southwest Airlines into Oakland, or a bit longer of a drive is to fly into Sacramento. Six Flags is in Vallejo, about 45 minutes from downtown San Francisco (depending on traffic). You will need to have a car.
