ya i would love to talk to a gyno, but we are a very conservative society, and am not sure how it would turn out if i went and asked a gyno about contraceptives before am actuly married, i could do that after the weddin, but then it might be too late.. :(

I highly recomnd ortho tricoclone lo, i took it when me and my husband had sex the first time (3yrs ago) and it worked good. First i would talk to your gyno and see what he recomends. a dr will prescribe you something based on you body and your cycle.

I've never used the morning after pill but its my understanding that is better as an emergency contraceptive, if the condom breaks or something.

Ifyou know the persons sexual history (given you are getting married, I'm assuming you do) there are plenty of oral contraceptive pills available. I went through 2 different brands before finding the right one. I didn't experience any serious side effects, but they do always warn about things like blood clots. The worst I ever had was weight gain and headaches (thus the brand change).

If you don't know the sexual history, I would recommend using condoms as well until you've had a HIV and STD check.

I was on Ortho-Tri Cyclin. Not the low dose, the regular. Its a pill that you take every day for 3 weeks and then you have a week off and have your period that week. The morning after pill is emergency contraception, not regular use contraception.

You can get and IUD implanted in your uterus, then you don't have to worry about any pills, patches or shots. An IUD can be left in for up to 5 or 10 years depending on the one you get.

There's a shot you can get every 3 months called Depo Provera. A lot of women have a harder time (longer time really) getting pregnant after having been on depo.

I just read your update: For the pill to be effective you need to start taking it a month before it becomes effective. Even if you aren't getting contraceptives from a gynecologist, you still need to see one for an examination. Tell your family that's why you are going, then in the privacy of your appointment ask for the pill. If you still feel that you can't get it until after your wedding, you need to use condoms until you can get to the doctor.

First....the morning after pill is NOT a contraceptive. It is only to be used as emergency back up, and is not guaranteed to work. It is roughly like taking a few birth control pills at once.

I would recommend Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. As long as you are good about taking your pill every day, it is almost 100% effective.

Taking the pill at about the same time each day assures its effectiveness. I take mine after work.

I would suggest not trying the Depo-Prevera injections. I thought it would be more convenient that a daily pill, but I gained weight, either had a continuous period for months or no period at all, and my hip they used to inject it in still hurts sometimes.

An IUD will be a good choice after you've had a baby, but doctors won't give it to you until after you've had a child.

Good luck to you, enjoy your lovemaking, and I hope this helps! :)

*I just saw that you are going to wait until after you are married to go to the gynocologist. If you want the pill to be effective, you need to start it at least 2-4 weeks prior to unprotected intercourse. I don't think anyone is going to judge you, and your doctor isn't allowed to break your confidence. If you do not want to get pregnant right away, PLEASE start taking the pill a month before your wedding. If you can't, use condoms with spermicide, although if your husband is a virgin, he may mess that up. I highly recommed the Pill.

Again, good luck, and it's great you saved yourself for your husband! :)

The morning after pill is not a preventative and is not to be used as regular birth control. The morning after pill is actually an abortive it prevents implantation of a fertilized egg. Regular birth control regulates a woman's cycle which prevents (in most cases) fertilization of an egg. The morning after pills are only 85 % effective when taken as directed under the best of circumstatnces...regular birth cotrol has been noted at being at least 99.9% effective. I won't recommend implants because I've seen too many problems in people I know who have had them. One woman had to have a hysterectomy in her early 20s because she was pregnant and the implant terminated the pregnancy but prevented the aborted embryo to be expelled from her body, she was unaware that she WAS pregnant to begin with and only found out about the problem when she had severe abdominal pains and thought it was her appendix. While they were doing an ultrasound to find out what the problem was her uterus errupted and almost killed her. I've known other women who used implants as well and wound up pregnant but they were luckier than the one friend. I suggest you discuss birth control methods with your doctor BEFORE you get married because you CLEARLY need to be educated on the subject.

I am a pharmacy technician, so I can tell you the most popular Birth Control methods that I see in our pharmacy....a few of the most popular BC pills are Yaz, Yasmin, Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo and Seasonale...another popular method is the Nuva Ring. The "Morning After Pill" or Plan B is not intended as a birth control method, only as a measure to be taken when other methods fail. I would strongly recommend you talk to your physician and find the method that works best for you...there is something out there for everyone! Good Luck and congratulations!

I have been given the shot, depo provera, each 3 months for quite a few years. No classes, no pms, stunning. yet some human beings have a annoying time getting or staying on it - once you first get it you have got a great-heavy (like 2 weeks) era. i don't understand if the chemical compounds are resembling what's in the pill then attempting the shot could supply you 3 months of migraines so do no longer rush into it even however that's a good option for some.

Congrats on your waiting for sex!!! I was on the pill for a number of years. I took it religiously and I never had an unplanned one while on them. I have been on a number of different ones. Triphasil (spelling?) made me sick,Ortho something was good for me. I had the Depo Provera shot, but I had a period for 126 days, that was not good. I was not a candidate for that. It normally makes you not have a period. I had an IUD for a couple of years and that was really good. If something is already in the uterus, nothing else it suppose to be able to embed in the uterus. Good luck!! Again, you will be glad you waited!! I wish I had.

Morning after pills are not regular birth control. They are to be used only in an emergency. Yasmin is really good, I never had any cramps. I got pregnant while on ortho tri cyclin.

yes the morning after pill has side effects ,it is only for emergency's ,like if you are raped or the condom breaks ,please do not think of using it long term. Also they make you sick and can make you bleed not good for every week.condoms are good to start with till you get on a pill .mine is triphasil it is low doss but works well.most pills are ok and any doctor can prescribe it .the implant implinon is OK too ,it lasts 3 years ,I had that after my last baby because its safe while breast feeding.
