Void is the absolute term, while devoid is the relative.

To say before the epoch of the universe's begining was void, it is needless then to say it was devoid of life, conciousness, knowledge, and all attributes, and therefore unable to engender them to begin with... Thefore the begining was void relative to this existence, but in itself the opposite which is Absolute reality, not void to Itself, but to the relative only.

Another example: If you have a blank page which is entirely made of ink, it can in no wise be said to either contain the word "light", whilst it likewise can not be said to be lacking in its potential in the ink, so although devoid of light it is possible the absolute Void may manifest it by contrast/relativism...

Therefore such nuances should be considered only when the mind likewise reflects upon such nuances, since language is but reflection and shadow of this apparent reality, and this life equally, is but reflection and shadow of That (capital for Absolute) reality.

How about this: I changed my mind about buying the car, so I voided (cancelled) the cheque I had written. Mars is devoid (empty) of life. A psychopath is someone who may have had a social and/or parental void (emptiness)in his life and he became devoid (lack of) of feelings/emotions/conscience. So, as you can see, VOID is generally used as a noun or a verb but DEVOID is generally used as an adjective or an adverb. Does this help??
