I am transferring at the end of the semester and really have no idea where to. Before I moved to Arkansas to attend college I lived in a po-dunk Texas rice field/refinery town not experiencing big city or the woes of crime. I've come to the realization lately after living in the suburbs my entire life, that metropolitan cities are going to have some crime along with its culture, traffic, diverse people, and possibly tourism and/or business. Wondering if anybody has any heads up on any cities that have established some equilibrium between the crime and all the things that make a great city a city.

I haven't decided what I'm majoring in haha. So I couldn't really say. I'm thinking classical studies with a masters in communication or advertising...? who knows. i know it's all intertwined.

I loved Lubbock (Texas Tech)! Big enough, plenty to offer, but not too big.

Come to San Antonio. This is a "new-big" big city. It still has a small town flair to it. We've got a zoo, Sea World, Six Flags, The Spurs!, short drive to the coast, to Austin, not too far from Houston, Toyota is here, not one, but two UT campuses, St Mary's, Incarnate Word, .... oh yeah, and don't forget the Alamo!

Being Texan I hate to say this but, what the hey, Austin. Another would be Galveston or Corpus Cristi. You don't say what you're majoring in so, do some research for colleges in these warmed climates.
