I have always been a good citizen, but recently I went to work for a guy to help run a business. I did not find out til it was to late that he was being watched by the local authorities for drug charges. I have now been thrown in the middle of it all and honestly had nothing to do with anything illegal. I have been reading up about the masons for some time now, well since my twins were born and I found out about all the good things the masons do and give. I have not been convicted of anything, but it is still in court. Will this keep me from being able to be a mason? I am against drugs, and now I am being looked upon as a possible drug dealer. I hope true people can honestly see the truth.

That is a very good and legitimate question. As we are looking for men of good character and repute to join our organization, it would be of concern if you are currently on trial for an illegal activity. What you would need to do is during the application/interview process, be very up front with the brothers doing the investigation about your situation. If they find that you are a good person, and believe your side of the story, it is quite likely that they will vote you in.

The only concern might be that they would worry how it would look if a member of their lodge was convicted of a drug related crime. This is quite understandable, which is why you must do your best to convince the members that you were caught in an unfortunate situation and that you will be a good contributing member to the organization.

Best of luck to you. I hope this advice helps. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions.

I'm not a mason, but one of my in-laws is. From what I heard, I think that you are ok. However, I have always had an uneasy feeling about the Masons. Not sure why, but I do. Check into them to see how and by whom they are governed by.

If you find a Brother who is willing to sponsor you,he will speak for you....the good and the bad.....the vote for entry is secret and only requires 1 black ball......its entirely up to your sponsor how much effort he puts into speaking for you....
