My Mom has been having very heavy periods for the last couple of months. Last month, she had a very heavy period lasting 28 days, with a lot of clots. What's the problem, and what should she do?

At any age, it may be called endometriosis- loosing the inner layer of the uterus. Can be serious, but easily fixed, usually with a d & c & sometimes drugs (not the fun ones) She really should see a ob-gyn Md. perhaps menopause. all can be checked with a blood test at county health dept. or Md.

Sounds like a Fibroid or Ovarian cyst.She needs to get to doctor,she may need blood.I once bled for 3 weeks and it was caused by fibroids?

Yes, your mom should definetely go to the gynecologist now. There could be a problem or (depending on how old she is) she could be going through menopause.

Depending on how old your mom is, she could be going through menopause. Have her go to the Dr. to check it out, and they'll probably put her on an estrogen supplement.
