Colorado- You can't even smoke a cigar in a bar. They made Wal-Mart remove all guns from their shelves. You can't shoot real fireworks their like other states. Man, doesn't this make you want to move there?

Here's what really makes me mad. California
No smoking, even outside at beaches. Strict gun laws. But they allow immoral stuff. Gay marriage.

What is it with these people? They say it's wrong to own a gun and smoke in a bar. But it is okay to have gay marriages??

California started the ===== smoking ban. So, should be follow a screwed state like this?

They like to allow sissy things. But they are against guns. Oh, a gun scares the liberals. Oh, well that gun I bought at Wal-Mart might save my family in danger!

Oh, I don't like the smell of smoke. If it was 30 years ago. You would be on your a-- if you whined about smoking in a bar.

Where's the real old west?

Ya, and California's laws on drugs are light in the loafers compared to other states.

I hear you. California, the state with the most cars on the roads is sueing car manufacturers. Abortion is apparently ok but owning a gun is wrong. Glad my state wont try to take away my guns anytime soon. I don't smoke but I think if people want to they should be able to. The states that are trying to ban it in personal vehicles are over stepping the boundary.

Considering a conservative state like TX has most cities banning smoking indoors, and you can only buy fireworks four times a year (if the city/county even allows that) I'm not sure how this is a liberal sissy thing. It's a matter as to what the people of each state feel. CA has different morals/values then does TX just as TX has different morals/values then FL. It's why most things like this are best left at a state level. Your morals/values are no better/worse then someone elses, you believe in them and should stand for them, but remember that the others believe in their morals/values and will stand for them just like you.

Conservative States resist change and try to preserve established attitudes, etc, from the past. Fundamentalist religious States of any kind are most likely to "ban everything". Liberal States are by definition more open to new ideas, dissent without suppression, and discussion. Similarly secular States promote debate, strive for consensus, allow individuals to believe what they choose and pursue their religion without interfering with others, or being interfered with, within the law - that's freedom qualified by what serves the well-being of the most participants, like having a law obliging drivers to keep to the right or the left on the road. Right now, I'd suggest The Real Old West is alive and well in Iraq - including the carpet-baggers. The anarchy of totally free individual choice, or the rule of the biggest gun, is not my idea of liberty.
General terms like liberal, conservative, right wing, left wing, socialist, capitalism, etc have been misused for political spin as abuse for so long most people have lost all sense of their meaning - and of what politics is about apart from a bun-fight for power. What matters surely is the benefit or disadvantages for the mass of us of any particular idea - argued on the basis of observable facts or supportable propositions; not on dogma, or unconsidered prejudices acquired second-hand. I'm hetrosexual myself, and hate the way homo-sexuals have taken possession of the grand word "gay" - but if those so inclined choose to live together in a relationship that doesn't affect me, it's surely their own lives, and why should I care? Because of some religious hang-up from a long past age of control and ignorance? I don't expect this will win me a "best answer", but good luck to you in a world becoming increasingly dangerous because of fixed ideas.

Government is being f*cked up doesn't mean the ppl in the states are What? You think California is actually okay with this???? Most or more than half of us break those laws anyway, but no worries cuz its none of the cops' priorities. They could least worry about somebody smoking pot and chillin in the park, lol! And the whole gun thing, thats really dumb, i don't think anyone would actually follow the laws, do you?

the difficulty with liberals is basically that they understand a lot that is not any longer so. The Liberal ideology is a concept , fostered through a delusional, illogical minority and which holds forth beliefs that do not have any foundation really. they are Advocates of a coverage that empowers an effective federal authorities to enslave its those with a severe tax burden incident to the help of extravagant and unnecessary social courses damaging to both the paintings ethic between the decrease type, and the inducement to innovate and be triumphant between the operating type. "at the same time as the persons discover that they could vote themselves money, which will herald the top of the republic." Liberals prefer to spend different peoples money!! @

Let me get this straight, OK?

I can go to a bar, drink poison, eat what they call "food" there with enough cholesteroal to stop an elephant, engage in risky sexual behavior, potentially get a pool cue bashed across my head, but I can't smoke as I could endanger my health.

Isn't that why you go to a bar in the first place?

Oh, and if you don;t like California that much, then don;t go, OK?

You lost all credibility when you said "liberal states" and included Colorado. Where have you been for the last 20 years?

Please grow up and get off of the liberal bashing. It will make your criticisms of political policies sound a little more intelligent if you do.

Left wing, right wing, chicken wing, who cares.

Bashing liberals is just as bad as saying all conservatives are a bunch of racist, gun loving nuts.

Just argue your points without bashing one political ideology or another.

You need to get your roles straight. Liberals don't ban anything. The conservatives are the ones responsible for banning everything and burning books and...

Well you get the point.

You mean like banning the rights of two people to write and sign a contract together, ala virginia?

Why is it not okay to smoke in public but okay to have gay marriage?

here's a guess - gay marriage does nothing to you. smoke in public causes you illnesses. how's that?
