Like the guy said, Take the battery out and try to reset it and see if anything happens.
Now if it is no good then you got a problem. No if you are in the US, what you do is get phone insurance with your cell phone provider. Now the catch is, is that you must make at least one phone call from the phone. You can not get insurance then take it in. You have to be able to make that one phone call. So if you can call a wrong number even, that would qualify. lol Then you just take it in to the cell phone company or you may have to call the insurance company to get another phone back. Sprint insurance is that you only get two replacements a year and I think now you have to pay like $40 also. You could probably get the screen replaced, but then the price would be probably that you could have bought a brand new better cell phone. Not worth it as you will find out. If anything, check on ebay for a replacement phone.

Try taking out the battery for 30 seconds and putting it back in then powering up the phone. If the screen is still dark, you either have water damage or a defective phone and need to call your cell provider about your warranty options.

Sounds like the LCD screen needs to be replaced. Or just fixed somehow.
