not being able to spell properly or use words in their proper context does much harm to the credibility of those seeking serious employment.
more spelling bees please,but only with common words, not words very few people will ever hear outside the bee!

Bkoz in cellfone texting it's faster to type & cheaper. D teachers r also not very educated in English.
But seriously - aside from the above problems, no one seems to show much interest in proper English. That goes for USA and quadruple for Philippines where English is one of the official languages. And yes, it would be good for everyone to turn on their spell checker AS WELL AS their grammar checker (Microsoft Word does have one).

maybe because of the technology now, like when they are typing in the computer they just rely on the SPELLCHECK button, that is why some people are not motivated to make their spelling and grammar good.
another one is text messaging, they shorten the word so they can say more..
it already becomes a HABIT that's why

Everybody is into speed ...the faster the better..so if they are typing,they (like myself)..go as fast as they can and send...now for the complete spelling morons...i think today's kids have become so computerized with abbreviations and the such ...they really can't spell

teachers tell me that they are so busy with the "no child left behind" process that they are lagging behind in those areas. They are frequently getting students prepared to take new standard tests.

We also use capital letters at the begining of setences ace.
