Although I am not a father yet, I know that would terrify me. There's allot of evil in this world and who knows where the we-un could end up? I'd be very worried.
When I was a pup, at an airshow, I wondered off. A German fighter pilot found me in his plane playing with the controls. Don't Ask. He brought me to the lost and found. Makes me sound like luggage. I got a colouring book and a Popsicle. It was the best day ever. But I look back and am rather thankful for that dude as I could have ended up anywhere, got hurt or worse.

No cant say that I have. I have 3 year old twins and I never take my eye off of them the way things are now a days I know I would go into complete panic. I'm not judging you because that happened to you, who know's it may happen to me one day but I really hope not. I remeber once when I got lost and a football stadium when I was 5 it scared me so bad and my grandma could'nt stop crying.

When my son was about 3 I woke up one morning and he was gone! The front door was open and so was the gate. I ran outside in my nightgown and spotted him about a block down talking to a lady. He had just gotten up before me and decided to take a walk! I did not even know he could unlock the door until then!

ya i've had simialr situations like at wal-mart but the absolute scarriest was when i woke up to get ready for work. my oldest (then 2-3) was sleeping in a toddler bed and i couldnt find her for like 30 minutes. first i thought that she might have woke up and fell back to sleep on the couch or something..i was searching my entire place.. i was soooooooooooooooooooooo scared!!! just turned out she rolled out of the toddler bed and under it! kinda silly now but that was the scarriest time of being a parent.

It happened to me many times...they are quick little scamps and one second of distraction is all they need to disappear. I was in a department store once with my 4 year old son at my side. I was looking through a table of children's books and suddenly heard my name being called over the PA system asking me to come to customer service to claim my child. He took advantage of the fact I was distracted and ran off, became scared when he couldn't see me anymore and turned himself in to a security guard. It was a happy ending ( again) but I was sorely tempted to put him on one of those toddler leashes.

My son scared me once when he was about 5. He was right in front of me the whole time, but I couldn't see him. He was hiding inside a rack of clothes I was browing. When I didn't see him I started calling him and looking around...he jumps out and yells BOO at me with a big grin on his face. I kissed him, hugged him, and then spanked him. I still remember the panic I felt in that moment, and he's 25 now!

my daughter's not yet 3, but I'm sure my turn is coming! I had nightmares about it for the first 2 years of her life, usually looking for her in the lost and found at the bus station, and there were always lots of other babies to search through... it's a terrible fear.

When my son was about 3, we were in Sears looking at clothes. I looked down and he wasn't there. He had just been "right there". I began calling out his name. Just as I was about to break down in tears, he poked his head out from between some clothes on the rack, sweetly smiled and said "boo mommy".

I don't have kids but having been on the kid side of things several decades ago I can say that it scared the crap out of me. That was before Adam Walsh et al but I am sure it scared the crap out of my folks as well.
