I'm having a friend come in to do nude model for some of charcoal art works. I would like any advice on how do I make the experience a good one for her?

I'm letting her keep the work. I'm doing this for fun and to gain experience.

I take it she has never done this before......

humor and lots of conversation to keep her mind on other things beside being displayed........
also when you go to take breaks have a robe that she can put on so she don't have to try and dress just to undress again or to parade around nude .......try to take breaks every fifteen minutes or so minutes...holding a pose for long extended periods is hard on a person.......

also ..since this is the first time she has ever done this..you might leave some of her clothes on ...or use a sheet and make a few drawings this way before you have her totally expose herself.......

I have never posed...but have worked with nude models....art school.....

Life modelling, nude photography -if a ladies body is beautiful let both of you enjoy it. Beauty doesn't last that long. If the body is perhaps less beautiful then share in this too -its called "respect".

Your model is just as much a part of the art process as you are (and for that matter who eventually sees your work).

Be totally honest with your model (if you're not don't do it!)

Share ideas, ensure physical and social comfort and don't treat your model for a moment as a "thing" he or she is a person to be respected.

Talking and laughing can overcome some of the cultural inhibitions about nudity.

First things first. Eye contact is very important. Yes you need to look at what you are drawing but eye contact is something that makes you less of a pervert. Look her directly in the eye when you talk to her, and talk to her ALOT. If you are not looking her in the eyes, try to direct your eyes to the image you are drawing as much as possible. Speak normally, compliment her in GENERAL terms: You look very nice, your very attractive. Keep away from sexually specific areas: I really think your butt is cute, WOW nice JUGS. In short, show her respect.
Music is very important. Let her bring the music she likes. That way she will be guaranteed to have what she feels comfortable with.
In some respects it is SIMILAR to making love. It is NOT the same. But it has similarities in that she must feel comfortable with you and there is a HUGE level of intimacy that must be achieved. Your professional behavior and respect is part of what makes it art and not porn, giving her a positive self image to reflect upon. Once again, the most important factor is RESPECT.

Just be professional. Act the same way you would if it were a guy model fully clothed. This will allow her to forget (to an extent) that she's nude and she will be able to relax, which means you will get a better model.

Turn up the heat!!!! If you're comfortable with clothes on, she'll probably feel chilled. :)
