Actually, it's not that uncommon. Most of the people going on those sites are men. It's just the way it is: Men chase after women, not the other way around. That's why so many of these services are free for women - it's not because they want to be nice to them, it's because (sorry if this sounds rude, but in economic terms) it's because women is the goods they're trying to sell. So they may get 15 guys to every woman, so that that woman really gets her pick, but 14 guys don't. In fact, one dating agency is being sued for paying women to go out with guys, just to keep them hooked.
And once you reach 27, I'd avoid singles bars as well. You'll just look like clown trying to act like a "playa" and you'll never be able to buy your own b.s long enough for it to work anyway.
The best thing is to just reach out to members of the opposite sex. Say hello to people on the street, on the bus, strike a conversation in the elevator at work. It will build your confidence. Join a club or activity you like to get you out of the house. Take it easy and don't beat yourself up. And never pretend to be someone you're not - you don't want the person who'll fall for your alter ego, you want the person who'll fall for you.

You would have to be an incredible loser as even I have found countless women on personal sites. You would have to be ugly, I think, to not be able to get laid off a personals site and even then, yes, it would take a pathetic attitude to ruin it. There is a lot of sex just waiting to be had on personal sites. Yahoo is a regular meat market. Sometimes I wish I were single again and then I wake up. Being single blows.

Maybe your personality is so special that only a few rare people exist who could possibly be a complimentary match for you. Never settle for second best. Wait for "the one."

No personality could match mine but I took that as a compliment.

It doesn't mean it's a bad personality...only a unique one. What fun would it be to have a bland personality that matched anyone?

I think there are several people on Yahoo who would be IMPOSSIBLE to match. Unless the search for a mate included alien beings!
