where does it rate on the "balanced" scale?

they have Glen Beck and Nancy Grace...

and they seem to give the news pretty quick, no time to put much "spin" on it... just facts and go... for the most part...

I'm not big on any "opinion guy" from either side personally... be it franken or Rush or beck... they all seem to be pushing the same pet rocks, just painted a different color...
but, beck being there is somewhat of a conservative presence on a CNN network...

It's about the only news I can stand to watch anymore. At least before 8 pm and after 10 pm. I don't go for the Grace and Beck tandem. They spend too much time bashing people instead of informing the public.

I still see some of the anchors showing way too much facial expressions and the tone of their voice is too suggestive. It is not only the quality of the information, but it is also the presentation.

As far as "balanced" news is concerned, that ideal was lost the minute editors and producers started caring more about ratings then the actual news. ALL of the news channels are only interested in the entertainment aspect. They will skew any of the facts to project their view if they think that is what the viewers want. This goes for CNN, MS NBC, and FOX.

I liked it better when it was pretty much strictly news. It used to be that they would just spend the entire time reporting on breaking news, and if I wanted more in depth analysis, well that's what the main CNN channel was for. But now they're giving blocks of time to righty talkers like Beck and Grace, so I don't watch Headline news as much anymore.

The United States remains, for the moment, the most powerful nation in history, but it faces a violent contradiction between its long republican tradition and its more recent imperial ambitions.

The fate of previous democratic empires suggests that such a conflict is unsustainable and will be resolved in one of two ways. Rome attempted to keep its empire and lost its democracy. Britain chose to remain democratic and in the process let go its empire. Intentionally or not, the people of the United States already are well embarked upon the course of non-democratic empire.

They are very right wing. Nancy Grace is a killer, Beck is a racist hate-mongerer. And, of course, they lie lie lie for the war.
