Missing In Action (MIA) Is a term for soldiers use in case they don't know whether is the soldier is dead or alive... BUT in our life is referring to that a person who is not doing what you suppose to do and go and do something somewhere else . Ok? I give you few example.. Medical Leave is an example, you should be at work but you rest at home because you sick.. this is one kind of (MIA) ;p More MIA example is cutting class, sleeping in toilet when you should be working.. Sneaking out of the house when you are suppose to be sleeping is the best example for "Missing In Action Since 2am", So, tell me.. Where have you been since 2am, aren't you suppose to be on your bed? Bad girl... House Arrest For U Lady Till 2am!!! Heheheheheheeheh

MIA is Missing in Action usually combat.
In your sweater's case, it probably means:
Missing In Action as of 2 am (the typical time most bars close)

After and maybe during the Vietnam War, when a soldier was missing, we could get bracelets with the soldiers name on them. This is the only missing in action that I can think of.

Missing in action means a soldier can not be found alive or dead. They don't know what happened to him, he may have been captured.
