Well according to the NFLPA the running back is the most dangerous position with the following career life expectancy. Keep in mind the study does not show the reason for for the short careers but a lot of this is attributed to the amount of abuse they take in a game.
Keep in mind the study was taken using data from 1987 to 1996 I am assuming they are planning on updating this soon. Especially in light of all of the current litigation going with some of the veterans and their current long term injuries.
Shortest careers:
running backs - 2.57 years
Wide Receivers - 2.81 years
Longest average career:
Quarterbacks - 4.44 years
punter/kicker - 4.87 years
Overall average between 3.4 - 3.6 years

Running back, you have to block, which means those 300 pounders comming at you and linebacker comming as well to get to the QB, you have to catch, so you have to go against those powerhouse hard-hitting safeties and of course, you have to run the ball, meaning the whole defense is comming at you.
Runningbacks have the shortest careers in football, which is well deserved after the punishment they go through.

Depends what level of football it is. In high school football probably the QB, cause they dont call as much roughing the passer, but they have tons of rules to protect QB's in college and the NFL, so probably the running back.

aside from the kicker and punter, i've got self assurance that the least risky place in soccer is the huge receiver place. no person is ever too short, or perhaps too skinny, to play the huge receiver place. Even the 4'11" and ninety seven-pound severe college senior lady interior the AP Chemistry classification would desire to play the huge receiver place, and carry her very own quite plenty.

The REFFEREE'S---They have no padding, are usually a little older (thus more fragile). The ref that is in the middle next to the Linebacker is most prone to getting drilled.

offensive line is tough, you get the hell kicked out of you on every play. Imagine smacking helmets with a 300 pound d-line man about 40 -50 plays a game. They do all that and get no glory.
