What are the new contruction color trends? I need to paint my house to sell it and I want to know what looks best. I have a 2 story custom built home. The paint on it now is really old. It is white with green trim and It looks ugly. My husband will be painting it himself but we are terrible with picking out colors. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I remodel houses, and I like to choose the light earth tone colors. I was told by a Realtor that the color that sells houses the fastest is a yellow (Butter) color. She mentioned this to me and as I look around at houses being sold most of them are a yellow color.

Before you start painting and doing a lot of cutsey thingies to your home, take this advise. I gave it to my son and it worked out fine.

I've been in the Real Estate business, and construction business, for forty years in several parts of the country. You can spend hundreds of dollars and even thousands, and never get a cent back as far as painting or re constructing something, that might not catch another ones eye. If it's just to make it look better because it's, say, peeling paint, that's one side. But, to repaint just to think your going to sell quicker or get a batter price, forget it.
You might paint it a color that might chase people away and, get nothing for your work.

Speak with your agent and see what actually needs to be painted or fixed. I've seen people replace entire rooms and put in hundreds of dollars and have the new owners move in a tear out everything and "do it their way" or, paint it their colors. It's the way it is.

You may even make a deal with the new owners for buying, saving you money and time.

Drive around the neighborhood. See what looks good. When you see what you like, stop and ask. They will be glad to tell you because you love their choice of color's.
