The choice to use moisturizer would rest on whether your skin is oily or dry. Masks are used mostly to remove the dead skin that can clog pores. As the mask dries it captures any stray dead skin and pull some moisture from the underlaying tissue. After using your mask you should make sure that you have thoughly removed the mask/clay. Then you should use a pore refiner aka something to close the newly cleans pores so that they won't be the site of a future breakouts or skin that looks better on an orange than on a person. Remember, there are no set rules for anything. Your routine has to be adapted to your skin!

Oh Yeah!!
The Noxema answer sounds good; can't use their products.

Clay masks are the BEST for cleaning out your pores: and firming skin at the same time.
Use less frequently in the winter! To avoid dry skin, tone, and use your usual moisturizer/and or nightime moisturizer afterwards.

I mask 1-2x week in the summer; esp if doing yard work; and as needed in the winter.
And, I have dry skin to begin with !!
I am 55, and some people think I am anywhere from 39 to 45.

I have pretty oily skin and don't moisturize after using a clay mask unless it's like dead of winter and the air is particularly dry.

I have used clay masks and then rinsed off....it really doesn't matter...I think once you have cleared the pores...don't use anything on your face right away...let your skin "breathe" a bit..then try putting like oil of olay(which is really good for your skin, and Does help you to feel and look younger..also olive oil, vitamin e or baby oil and or vaseline and or even pretty much any type of oil...vegy oil, canola, etc...from the kitchen, you can put on your face...it will hydrate the skin...and your face will become really smooth...I prefer oil of olay..and vitamin e...and or vaseline...there is some with aloe..that is really nice..and also olive oil mostly!

I think that the olay, takes or removes alot of the wrinkles out of the skin!
