This country was founded under Judeo-Christian values whether people want to believe that or not. The Founders of this country thought so, and up till a few decades ago, that was the way things were done. Those with the foresight to put "Under God" in the pledge knew that this country needed the blessings of God, and rightly so.
Just because a minority of athiests in this country want this taken out of the pledge, does not mean the majority agrees with that. This country is a republic. The minority does not overrule the majority. The whole should not have to suffer because a handful of people want to publically reject God.
If you don't want your kid subjected to it, then he/she can either leave the room, or don't recite the pledge. Why should other kids who do have reverence for God have to suffer because of you and your kids?
My suggestion to you is........get used to "Under God" in the pledge, or move to Canada, England, or somewhere else.

When it comes before a non-conservative-leaning Supreme Court. Those positions are lifetime appointments, and who knows who'll be doing the appointing in coming years, so figure at least a couple of decades from now. John Roberts could serve for 30 years or more.
The phrasing can't withstand a challenge on Constitutional grounds; the Supreme Court evaded the issue by claiming the man who brought the case before them did not have sufficient legal standing, as his daughter's part-time parent, to submit it, in Elk Grove Unified School District v. Michael A. Newdow, filed July 2003.

As a Christian...I truthfully think what you want SUCKS. If you don't want your kids subjected to God, or words to God, then leave it out. But leave our Pledge of Allegiance alone. We don't need anymore changes. Not only that, but you're imposing your will on your child, just like my parents did with me. Why don't you leave it out and let your child ask and then decide for him/her self. It isn't proper by any laws of human nature that you are controlling. That stinks. It's not psychological programming...it's thanking our Creator for a safe country...a stable nation. Take away God, and this world has not much to exist for, do we? There are 86% of us and we're tired of bending to the wishes of the minorities. And your 15 minutes of fame are up.

Never.
It has been in the pledge since at least the 60's.
Your kids don't have to say it. Many kids don't anyway.

If all the liberal bleeding-heart criminal codding judges have their way it would be taken out yesterday! In my heart and mind it will be there forever.Maybe you should send your kids to school in Iran where they could get some real psychological programming.

I hope they don't. If you don't like it, go and live somewhere else where you don't have to make a pledge to God.

I took it out of my recitations in the sixth grade, right after I first learned about the First Amendment.

Why does it bother you so much? I am agnostic and it doesn't bother me so long as I don't have to recite it clad in a burka and have to say "one nation under Allah". Try to stay sat then!
