We are planning to hit Orlando for family vacation on March 31 for 3 days. My daughter is very excited about it, but I don´t know if the long waiting lines and the hot sun will be as much fun for my boy. My husband and I enjoy the rides but this time one of us has to wait with the baby when small children are not allowed to ride. What can we do to share and enjoy this as a family vacation?

you will find that just about every ride that your son will not be able to go on has a "child-swap" area. One person waits with the little one while rest of the group goes on the ride, then when they finish you "swap" , someone else stays with the little one, while you get to go on the ride without having to go back to the end of the line. These areas are up front so you can stay together while your party waits in line for the first go around.

Rent a stroller for the little one, there is a lot of walking and I am sure he will do some napping. Make sure you all use sunscreen, too. Make sure you stay hydrated- drink plenty of water and make sure the baby does, too.

There are plenty of rides in each of the parks that the entire family can ride. Many are simple slow moving rides- Magic Kingdom has probably the most, but you will have plenty to do at all the parks. there are shows- don't miss Beauty and the Beast at Disney/ MGM, it is beautiful. Animal Kingdom now has Finding Nemo show. It is very large puppets on stage. (fantastic)
Epcot you will probably all enjoy Turtle talk with Crush in the Living Seas- Crush, the turtle from Finding Nemo is on a screen and he actually interacts with the audience.
In Magic Kingdom take some time to relax at the Winnie the Pooh playground. It is fairly new and you will be able to let the little one really enjoy himself there.
Oh, and if you get to Magic Kingdom when they first open- immediately get on the train and ride it to Toon Town. (This is the back of the park, where Mickey & Minnie's houses are and you can take photos with the characters) If you do this right away, you get to "meet" Mickey & Co. without such long lines for the photos!

Most of all make sure everyone in the group gets to do something they want to do. Obviously you cant do everything, but take some time out for each of you. Take turns choosing a ride for example.

Have a Magical Vacation!!

To start you off with your planning I've included a link with all the height restrictions for Disney. This way, you will know what you can ride together and what you cannot. For the most part, the rides your son cannot ride may be a little to scary for your daughter as well. (I'm not sure what kind of rides she likes)

Magic Kingdom will have the most that you can do as a family and many places that your son will be able to enjoy. This is also one of the best places to meet characters, and Toontown is also great for the little ones. So that will probably be a lot of fun for him as well. Animal Kingdom also has a lot of things he may enjoy, animals, shows, etc. Fireworks can be a little scary for babies, so I'm not sure if that is something you will want to wait for or not, but the parades and most shows are great for kids of all ages!

A lot of rides also offer a feature where you can send your daughter on the ride with your husband and you can wait with your son, or you can go, and then when they are done on the ride you get a little pass and then you get to go right on to the ride and ride it as well. Since a lot of people travel with children that are too small to ride, this is a great thing for parents.

Be sure to bring a long plenty of things for your son. A hat and lots of sunscreen is very important for both of your children. If you are taking a stroller, try to get one that has a canopy to give more shade. Fans are also a good idea, the ones that mist are very nice as well. It won't be as hot since you are going in March, but it can still be warm. Be sure to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and bring some little snacks for the children to enjoy in between meals, if you are wanting to save money otherwise there is a ton to eat in the park. Also, a great idea for parents is to pack a line bag for your children. Bring some activities for them to do while you are waiting in line or for the parade, or for someone to get off another ride. Books, games, etc. are all great ideas to keep them occupied. Since your daughter is a little older, she may like to help plan what you will be doing next. Waiting in line is a good time look over the map, read guidebooks, etc.

Other than that, be sure to use fastpass to help cut down the wait time.

Have a great time!

Your daughter will probably get bored with Disney so you should think about going to Universal Orlando too. If you stay in a nice hotel close to whatever park than it will be enjoyable to only stay at the parks fro short amounts of time in the morning when it is cooler and go back to the pool at the hotel in the afternoon and relax.

A tea cups ride I see be like the only option for small children.
Well bring an umbrella to block out sun be about all possible to be done since these amusement parks revolve around waiting.

GO to that shaded area they must have one a vegetation/tree vine arch and get a pink lemonade beverage. Go eating at the themed area like German etc. and dance.

Shows are good for the whole family because the baby can stay cool while the young girl cans see princesses or nemo or whatever show it is you all are going to see.
