Yes. It is geeky for sure if you are just another typical shy run-of-the-mill classical violinist. But if you can put your own personality into your playing, and incorporate unique/popular songs or different styles than classical, then it would be more impressive and cool than geekish. It takes a really special girl to make a violin not boring to a guy, but hats off to you if you can!!

No I don't think it is geeky. I wish I knew how to play the violin, I love violin music. I got my son started with lesson when he was 10 and in the 5th grade. My idea not his....He is now in the 6th grade and I am amazed at how good he has gotten. I love to sit and hear him practice. Which he does now without my bugging him. His orchestra class is now one of his favorite classes (second to science) and he has thanked me for 'making' take violin. Be proud of your talent and keep on with it if it is something you enjoy. I would love to learn violin someday....but for now having my son learn is just as good.

No, but if a guy thought you were geeky for being able to play the violin, he would not be someone I would want to know anyway.

Who cares what it seems like to guys. If you like playing the violin, keep doing it, and enjoy it.

No. And if you can play the violin, you can play a cello. And cellos are very sexy.
