I started doing squats about a month ago, and I'm taller then you. My trainer suggested to me that taller guys often find a slightly wider stance easier, you might try that. I just checked, and I figure I squat with my feet about 8 inches wider then shoulder width apart. Make sure your form is good - weight back on your heels, keep your back arched.

For now, drop the weight and just focus on form. You can blast your thighs doing some leg presses afterwards. As your squats become better, you can basically replace the leg presses.

I hope you're not doing squats 4-5 times a week. Even with a HIT approach (one set heavy to failure) you'd still only be going 2 or MAYBE 3 times a week, though 3 would be tough if you're working hard. After my legs day, I can barely walk down stairs :/

Big muscles take longer to recover. And the muscles you hit with squats are the biggest in your body.

I suggest staying away from the squats because of your height and the range of motion required for squats you lower back is doing alot of the work. You don't want that because your trying to build your thigh muscles. I suggest sticking to leg press for your mass training, you can still go heavy on this excersise.

Perhaps your body is not fit enough to tolerate sudden stress. Walking would help greatly. Starting with your baseline, and increasing it would definitely help your body.
