Is communism Martial Law or Marshal Law? I always thought it was Martial Law since martial means military (as in court-martial), but I saw someone spell it the other way recently. How did it get the name?

Communism is not martial law or mashal law. It is also not what another poster dsaid about government control. There would be no state in a communist society. The only way there would be a government is if every person would be part of it. Which is what communists strive for, not a government in the sense of a dictatorship, but a government in the sense of everyone having an equal say. But i do know what you are asking. A better question would be about fascism, which is what most people think communism is. Look it up.

It doesn't deal with either. In the USA we can have martial law imposed on us in case of war. (Think civil war!!!) The president of the US can even revoke the right to a court review in times on civil war according to the consitution.

Communism is a form of government just like democracy, dictatorships, etc.

Communism is a theoretical form of government that (in theory, not in actual practice) grants the government control of business's and the distribution of goods.
