Singaporean couples today generally avoid having too many children unlike the older generation. The nation has opened its door to skilled migrants from Asia some years back and continues to maintain "selective immigration control" and never to open its doors to any Chong, Vellu or Khairy from the neighbouring countries - unskilled manual labor, lowly educated migrants should not be allowed to acquire Singapore citizenships.

Today, Singapore have to "invite" more foreigners, one of the reason is our current SM Lee "Two is enough" policy 20 years ago. Singapore was a very small country, and SM Lee foresee a over population in the future. Thus couple was "advice" to have only 2 children. Now, the Government again feel that the aging population will cause problem with the current birth rate. So now, what is the problem in the future when more foreigners come? Beside over population, social problem, crime rate, many others. Will the "future SM Lee" (current PM Lee), going to "advice" couple "Two is Enough" again?
The Government is simply contradicting!

Well, not 100% foreigners..
We have increase our babys around 600++ since previous year... And it is a good sign...
I believe we will have 5 million singaporean and 2.5 million foreigners on that day... But always remember that in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong etc, most of their population are foreigners 50 years ago. So in 50 years later, all the SIngaporean will become Singaporean ady and they will give birth and all the local stuff like 'singlish etc' will pass down to our children and make them the same....
Well, it's only that SIngapore is still doing it as to make sure our futures will not be gone just because of population...
It is good and i welcome them.....

Significant numbers of foreigners we are likely to get are more whores, foreign workers who ride against traffic hoping for insurance payouts, contraband cigarettes sellers, rubbish dumps foragers. Singapore is humid, mentally stifling and would never attract the density of highly educated, civic minded people like what we see in Tokyo. We probably be named as armpit of Asia.

there's both the adv & disadv to the rising population. even now, the current no. of spore population seems totally huge esp in public areas. there isnt much walking space ard and the public transports are also always full and packed even after 11pm. In addition, having foreigners cming to spore leads to the competition for jobs. however, having more foreigners contibutes to spore's culture vibrancy and this is one of the factors that helps to attract investors to spore.
