This fall I start clinical rotations for my degree in laboratory science. I will be going Monday through Friday 7am-3pm for 2 semesters. How the heck am I supposed to work to pay rent and stuff when my clinicals are practically a full time job (that I'm NOT compensated for)?

Don't suggest taking out a student loan because I can't. I don't have good enough credit for a private student loan. I take out a stafford loan (as much as I'm allowed...only $3500) and pay out of pocket for the rest of my tuition.

There is one thing you can do. After you get out of clinical at 3. you could work in a nursing home on the 3-11 shift. Most nursing homes understand clinical and realize that you won't get there until 3;30, and they allow for that. You can bring your books for studying and get out at 11, go home and get a good night sleep and you will be fresh for clinical the next day. I know, because I had to do that when I was in nursing school and I had clinical the same hours as you. the director of nurses was very understanding, most of them are because they went through it themselves. That's the best I can suggest, hope it helps. Good luck to you

Well you may have to work a night shift somewhere. It's done all the time. I had to do it as well with a two month old. But you have to go in with a good attitude because they my hire you on afterwards and the rewards are much better when you are done.
